Kildee Secures $700,000 for Genesee County Drain Commission

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that he has secured $700,000 in federal funding for the Genesee County Drain Commission. This funding was secured in the Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill, which passed the House Appropriations Subcommittee late yesterday. The bill still must be approved by the full House and Senate before it can be signed into law.

The funding will benefit the Karegnondi Water Authority — a public agency that is being formed by Genesee, Lapeer and Sanilac counties as well as the cities of Flint and Lapeer. This authority seeks to construct a regional water supply, but the authority must be finalized before the project can proceed.

“A quality and reliable water supply is critical for our communities. I support the efforts of the Karegnondi Water Authority and I am proud to have secured this funding,” said Congressman Kildee.
